Trubisky showed huge improvements from year one to year two, leading his team to a 12-4 record and Chicago’s first NFC North title since 2010. Trubisky ranked 11th in fantasy points per game last season, throwing for 3,233 yards and 24 touchdowns. Trubisky also adds value with his legs, rushing for the fifth most yards amongst quarterbacks in 2018. Although he has tremendous upside, Trubisky still has trouble with his accuracy and plays in a run-heavy offense. For 2019, he should be considered a quality QB2.
David Montgomery and Tarik Cohen
Jordan Howard is gone, meaning the RB1 spot is up for grabs in Chicago. That spot is likely to go to rookie running back, David Montgomery. Montgomery is a strong, allusive back who could see over 200 carries this season. Unfortunately for Montgomery, he is running behind a line that ranked fifth worst in the NFL last year in rushing. Montgomery is also a good receiver and pass blocker, which will help him stay on the field. Cohen, on the other hand, is coming off a season where he finished 11th among RBs in fantasy points. Cohen was deadly out of the backfield last season, posting a 71/725/5 receiving line. This is a line he will not repeat this year, and is best placed as a low RB2 or flex-option. Montgomery on the other hand is a solid RB2 pick this year.
Burton’s fantasy numbers from last season is deceiving to the naked eye. He ranked 8th among tight ends last season, but this was due to his boom-or-bust performance, only scoring more than eight fantasy points in five games last season. Burton did receive a good amount of targets last year, but was only thrown to four times in the end zone. Burton is a hard player to gage in Matt Nagy’s offense, but this season I’d rank him just outside the top-10 for tight ends in 2019.
Robinson is coming off a disappointing season in his first year in Chicago. Robinson only scored more than 10 points twice last season, posting a lackluster 55/754/4 receiving line in 13 games. On the upside for Robinson, he did receiver a 23 percent target share and had a big game in their playoff loss to the Eagles. Robinson is due to have a bounce back season and is a suitable WR2 going into 2019.
